Fire buckets

The fire buckets made of leather-covered wooden frames, which were painted with pitch on the inside, came from the Palace Theater of Schwetzingen. Open light on stage combined with easily combustible materials and wall decorations posed a constant danger. In order to prevent the risk of fire and to be prepared in the event of a fire, fire buckets were therefore deposited at various locations throughout the theatre - comparable to today's fire extinguishers.
