Midland am südlichen Ende der Georgian Bay, regionales wirtschaftliches Zentrum und beliebte Ferienregion.

Sehenswürdigkeiten im Raum Midland sind nebst den ca. 30.000 Inseln in der Bucht und der Nachbau der Jesuitenmission 'Sainte-Marie-au-pays-des-Hurons' vor allem die vielen Wandgemälde an den Häusern der Stadt, die seit 1988 zu den 'National Historic Sites of Canada' gehören.
