La Catedral de Santa María de la Asunción de Toledo (Kathedrale von Toledo), die Kathedrale des Erzbistums Toledo. Sie ist ein Hauptwerk der spanischen Gotik.

Die Kirche wurde 1226 gegründet, Baubeginn war 1227, nachdem Ferdinand III. (genannt „der Heilige“) die frühere westgotische Kirche, welche zu einer Moschee umgebaut worden war, hatte abreissen lassen (Toledo war von 712 bis 1985 unter der Herrschaft der muslimischen Mauren).


Toledo, Hauptstadt der spanischen Provinz Toledo sowie der autonomen Region Kastilien-La Mancha, 65 km südsüdwestlich von Madrid, bequem per Zug (in ca. 30 ... 35 Minuten) oder Bus (in ca. 1 Stunde) erreichbar.
Das historische Zentrum von Toledo zählt zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe.

Ich mag diese riesigen und prunkvollen Kirchen in der Regel nicht, anschauen und knipsen ok, aber ansonsten ....
