Toledo ist bekannt für seine Damasquinados (Artesanías de Damasco, Kunsthandwerk aus Damaskus oder Damaszener-Kunsthandwerk).
Damascening ist die maurische Kunst, Gold- oder Silberfäden in einem Muster in schwarzen Stahl einzulegen.
Ursprungsgebiet dieses Handwerks war Damaskus im islamischen Osten im 11. und 12. Jahrhundert.
Der heutige 'maurische' Stil (der auch als 'typisch Toledo' bekannt ist) wurde ursprünglich im muslimischen Westen (dem heutigen Marokko) verfeinert und durch marokkanische Künstler bis nach Andalusien gebracht.
In den Pips sind Ausschnitte aus einem alten Stück in unserer Familie. Es wird noch heute als Brieföffner benutzt, ist fast täglich in Gebrauch, aber immer noch in gutem Zustand.

My grandmother had some pieces from here, they are probably around ninety to one hundred years old now ... I can't remember plates, but neck and arm jewellery was there ...
