behold the new lamb jackets!


We used to keep the poddy lambs under a heat lamp, but last year our friends Yvonne and Richard gave us some one-use-only lamb jackets. With the jackets on they didn't need the heat lamp, and they slept better without a light all night. These jackets were a special jacket especially for lambs including the ones you may not catch again, eg small lambs with their mums. The pure wool felt jackets were made to gradually fall apart as the lamb grew, eventually dropping off. But they are pricey, so this year I googled "lamb jackets" and found many patterns for them. I made this one according to the measurements given, but these young lambs are already so big, the jackets are already a bit too small. The leg elastic was stretched tight, and the neck was only just wide enough. So on to Plan B...
