big salt

Visiting Italian friends, Antonella & Michele, once said they needed "big salt" (sale grosso) when they were cooking for us. It was not cooking salt, not rock salt, not flaked salt. We had no idea what they meant. Our Italian HelpXer Antonio was going to make us "Pollo al Sale Grosso" for dinner and said he could only make it with big salt. So we asked our neighbour Trish, who asked her Italian mother, who told us we could try some of the supermarkets in Melbourne in the areas where a lot of Italians live. Ad went to Piedemonte's and was able to buy some at last!
