first big batch of incubated eggs

Until now I've only hatched eggs in small batches using the mini incubator. This time I had 41 of our chicken eggs in the big incubator. Halfway through the incubation we got a letter from the power company that we had a scheduled 6 hour outage for power line replacement. This would fall on day 20 - one day before hatching! Gah! Rather than move them at this delicate stage, I placed the incubator on a thick feather pillow which was on a mattress, then surrounded it with more about 10 more feather pillows and a down quilt, completely covering it except for the air holes. I uncovered it that evening and one had already hatched. Yay!
