Der Schillerplatz in Chemnitz

Das Werk Oben-Mit (oder: Ein Denkmal für die guten Geister meiner Heimat) des bildenden Künstlers Osmar Osten ragt 3,60 Meter in die Höhe. Aluminiumfiguren thronen auf Nutursteinen und Marmor. Die Abbilder erzgebirgische Folkloresymbole glänzen silbern, zeigen aber bewußt grobe Nähte und Gussgrate. Die liebevolle Hommage an die Heimat wird so gleichzeitig zur Distanzierung von touristischen, kommerziellen Vereinnahmungen lokaler Identitäten. Osmar Osten wurde 1959 in Karl-Marx-Stadt, ehemalige DDR, geboren. Er lebt und arbeitet seitdem in Chemnitz.
