Wunderbares Foto. Man spürt förmlich die Kraft des Wassers.
Soweit ich weiß, wird viel Wasser für die Stromgewinnung abgezweigt. Wie es wohl aussähe, wenn sämtliches Wasser die Fälle hinabstürzen würde?

Der mittlere Abfluss über die Fälle ist immer noch 2800 m³/s in "touristischen Zeiten" und 1400 m³/s außerhalb dieser Zeiten. Alles darüber darf für andere Zwecke (Energieerzeugung, Trinkwasser, Bewässerung etc.) verwendet werden. Ich habe gelesen, dass der Flussspiegel bis zu 5 m ansteigen würde, wenn man nichts ausleiten würde und die rückschreitende Erosion der Fälle würde dann 1 bis 1.5 m pro Jahr betragen und nicht wie jetzt nur ca. 30 cm.
