Fjordo_Comau
Valle de Huinay. Huinay is land belonging to the San Ignacio del Huinay Foundation. It divides the private Pumalín Park belonging to American owner Douglas Tompkins into two parts. Tompkins wants to purchase it to unify his park, however, this has met with strong opposition from the people in the hamlet of Huinay.
Climate is very humid with 6000 mm precipitation per year.

Also ist die opposition gegen Douglas Tompkins immer noch stark? Irgendwo kann man auch verstehen, dass die Leute es misstrauisch sehen, wenn der Besitz eines Amis das Land in 2 Teile zerschneiden würde...

Ich habe da zwar einiges gelesen darüber, kann mir aber noch keine endgültige Meinung darüber bilden. Ami-Interessen im Ausland sind immer sehr kritisch zu hinterfragen, allerdings sehe ich hier nicht unbedingt eine Gewinnabsicht von Tompkins, eher schon das Bewahren der Naturräume.....Plakate mit "Patagonia sin Tompkins" sieht man allerdings zur Genüge.

Ich denke auch, seine Absichten sind sicher gut, aber wahrscheinlich hat er's ungeschickt angepackt. Nach dem Chaitén-Ausbruch ist das ganze glaube ich ziemlich hochgekocht, weil durch die Naturbelassenheit des Parks eine Evakuierung auf dem Landweg in dieser Richtung sehr schwer wäre.
