Ascent to the Kreuzspitze (3,455 m). On the right, the starting point (Martin-Busch-Hütte) is 800 metres lower down in the valley. There are still 150 metres to the summit. This climb served to get used to the altitude as preparation for the Similaun ascent the next day. ~~~~~ Aufstieg auf die Kreuzspitze (3.455 m). Der Ausgangspunkt (Martin-Busch-Hütte) ist 800 Meter tiefer, rechts unten im Tal. Bis zum Gipfel sind es noch 150 Meter. Dieser Aufstieg diente zur Gewöhnung an die Höhe als Vorbereitung auf die Similaunbesteigung am nächsten Tag. ~~~~~

A first energy boost, 3 hours after getting up. (In the guesthouse there was no breakfast at 6:30 am. In the Martin-Busch-Hut, it was already cleared away at 8:00. But we had made provisions). ~~~~~ Ein erster Energieschub, 3 Stunden nach dem Aufstehen. (In der Pension gab es um 6:30 Uhr noch kein Frühstück. In der Martin-Busch-Hütte war um 8:00 Uhr schon abgeräumt. Aber wir hatten vorgesorgt.) ~~~~~

To get to know the area, we had decided to first explore the surroundings of the Martin Busch hut before climbing the Similaun. This small lake, Lake Brizzi , lies to the west of the hut at 2,920 m above sea level. The ascent to this point - with photo stops - takes a good hour and a half (420 metres in altitude). ~~~~~ Um die Gegend kennenzulernen, hatten wir uns entscheiden, vor der Similaunbesteigung zunächst die Umgebung der Martin-Busch-Hütte zu erkunden. Dieser kleine See, der Brizzi-See , liegt westlich der Hütte auf 2.920 m Höhe. Der Aufstieg bis zu diesem Punkt dauert - mit Fotostopps - gut anderthalb Stunden (420 Höhenmeter). ~~~~~

The Similaun can be reached from the Martin Busch Hut via the hiking trail through the valley to the right. After a good 2 hours (4.6 km, 571 m difference in altitude) you reach the Similaun Hut (3,019 m, very tiny in the high-resolution version). This hut is the starting point for the Similaun ascent as well as for a visit to the Ötzi finding site . high resolution (8000 x 3000) route description ~~~~~ Zum Similaun gelangt man von der Martin-Busch-Hütte über den Wanderweg rechts durchs Tal. Nach gut 2 Stunden (4,6 km, 571 Höhenmeter) erreicht man die Similaun-Hütte (3.019 m, in der hoch aufgelösten Version ganz klein erkennbar).
