This sculpture is situated in front of the Rifugio Salei on the Sella Pass (Dolomites, Italy). Unfortunately, my searches for the sculptor were unsuccessful. ~~~~~ Diese Skulptur steht vor dem Rifugio Salei am Sellapass (Dolomiten, Italien). Meine Recherchen im Hinblick auf die Bildhauerin oder den Bildhauer waren leider erfolglos. ~~~~~

We bought this sculpture for a good friend as a birthday present. It has found a place of honour in his home. ~~~~~ Diese Skulptur haben wir für einen guten Freund als Geburtstagesgeschenk gekauft. Sie hat einen Ehrenplatz bei ihm gefunden. ~~~~~

Workshop and sales room of one of the many South Tyrolean ‘Herrgottsschnitzer’. However, the portfolio of this traditional workshop has changed considerably. In addition to classic figures of the Virgin Mary and Jesus, modern sculptures are now also sold with such great success that they now account for half of sales (see PiP). ~~~~~ Werkstatt und Verkaufsraum eines der vielen Südtiroler "Herrgottsschnitzer". Das Sortiment dieser traditionellen Werkstatt hat sich allerdings stark gewandelt. Neben klassischen Marien- und Jesusfiguren werden inzwischen auch moderne Skulpturen mit so großem Erfolg verkauft, dass sie inzwischen die Hälfte des Umsatzes ausmachen (siehe PiP). ~~~~~

The Sassolungo group , view from the Sella Pass . It's impressive how you can ski around the entire mountain group in a single day (a good 40 kilometres) - whereas in summer, the ascent on the old cable car and the via ferrata on the Fünffingerspitze (in the middle) alone is a day's programme. ~~~~~ Die Langkofel-Gruppe, , Blick vom Sellapass .
