Tja, ich bin sicher, dass Herr Heine jedes Mal, wenn ich in Hamburg war (dreimal drei Tage), nicht an dieser Stelle war. Sicherlich beobachtete er die Jungfern an der Binnenalster ;-))). Seine Haltung erinnert mich ein wenig an den "Denker" von Rodin.

Den "Denker" habe ich aber auch im "Palace of the Legion of Honor" in San Francisco gesehen. Aber auch in Sevilla ist er zu sehen, nur in einer etwas anderen Art ;-):

I have taken the artistic freedom to give a special touch to the lower one as well as to the upper one by combining both pictures.

This pair of pictures gives good insight into how the algorithm of "What's hot" works.

Because I wanted the "Colours of Generations" to be seen by the algorithm as the newer one, I only uploaded it after the image from the Heine statue. Therefore, this image was rated higher by the algorithm, although it has only 15 stars, while "Heine" has 17 at the moment.

A kind of what we call "retro-engineering", therefore = demonstrate the algorithm through experience, which is a common procedure with "old" software...! ;)

Dieser Algorithmus ist sowieso ein wenig Eigen. Was der teilweise als "Hot" bewertet, verwundert schon - und dann ruft man es auf und sieht, dass es zwei mal gefaved wurde und drei Kommentare erhielt (als Beispiel) und fragt sich, was daran "Hot" sein soll.

I think the number of favs doesn't always say something about the quality of an image, but rather reflects the activity of a member and/or the interest of other members.
(Most people prefer to distribute favs and comments to those members on their contact list who are most active with them.)

In addition, images had to have at least four favs to make it to any of "What's hot's!" pages before IMA took over ipernity.
In earlier years there had to be at least 10 favs and comments in a given time. But as one of the first members of ipernity, you certainly remember yourself.
The algorithm was and still is manipulable. And that should be excluded for the future.

In addition, a streamlining of the number of pages to a maximum of eight to ten "What's hot!" pages would, in my opinion, be indispensable if we really want to arouse interest through quality instead of quantity and breathe new life into "What's hot!". (From page 8 at the latest both interest and resonance of the members decrease noticeably and often convey the impression of almost completely missing dynamics. A paralyzing feeling...)

Obwohl schon oft danach gefragt wurde: Der Algorithmus ist nicht dokumentiert. Wir kennen ihn nicht. Msn kann nur durch Experimentieren erahnen, wie er ungefähr funktioniert.

Yes, I know, Bernhard, and it's unfortunate that the algorithm isn't documented anywhere. ( My comment to " ୱ Kiezkickerde ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) " is based on the knowledge of the earlier algorithm and on many years of careful observation.)
Nevertheless, I still hope that at some point in the not-too-distant future this problem can be tackled as well, including, in my opinion, the urgently needed minimization of the number of pages of "What's hot!" for a greater dynamism and efficiency.
