The Sunday Challenge - Monochrome

Great contrasts in this super mono shot.

Thanks HC ... glad you like it. Shot using the monochrome setting in Raw before some simple cropping and tweaking so it's almost how it came out the camera.

To me this has just the right amount of contrast along with, as starless pointed out, curves, lines and textures. Instant fave.

Thanks for the fave and the encouragement Christine. I'm happy especially given how reticent I was about shooting in B&W. The funny thing is the choice of this as a subject was one of pure chance.

I'd been out a few times on the bike trying to get a shot I thought would work, but not really getting anywhere. Then, whilst cycling down the High Street the rain came on and I thought I'll just take some shelter and there it was ... inspiration!

It those unplanned shots that often surprise us ... glad you took shelter where you did. :)

shopping, ~yick~ ranks right up with cleaning the bathroom, doing laundry etc... I don't like it! Paul this is a fantastic b&w, I love how dark the black is.. this is a most excellent shot!

Interesting subject! I like your perspective for it! You should have shot an automobile this week, then maybe you could get one in Explore! I'm hoping that somebody gets a car in there sooner or later. At least for all us car nuts out here!
