I looked and saw sky stars
on the ceiling of my hotel room
and then I thought earth
is the world's hotel
on whose ceiling stars swarm
living and dead
radiating intermittent light that doesn't illuminate us
but is astonishing
and seems so useless
as the light now turned off
in my hotel room
///
olhei e vi estrelas do céu
no tecto do meu quarto de hotel
e então pensei que a terra
é o hotel do mundo
em cujo tecto pululam estrelas
vivas e mortas
a luz intermitente que irradiam não nos ilumina
mas espanta
e parece tão inútil
como a luz agora apagada
do meu quarto de hotel
