THE REVOLT OF THE BIRD HUNTERS

It's a crime to disregard the well-compilled
laws
enacted by the general assembly of many lined birds
on the perch.

Seeing them from underneath or in the TVnews
it seems that democracy works
nobody flies without everyone doing it
no one chirps or loses the peep without looking to the side

however

seeing better

all are shaking a lot and flap their hurried wings
but nobody does anything
nor leaves the perch.

Until the shots of poachers
far away scare them
and the birds flock disbands
give two or three wide flights over the power
and suddenly comes back to it.

Harmony temporarily lost
remakes
the freedom of those who remain
is the increasing hunger
and the inept revolt of dreaming
that never comes to an end.

A REVOLTA DOS CAÇADORES DE PÁSSAROS

É crime o desprezo pelas leis bem compiladas
e promulgadas
pela assembleia geral de muitos pássaros alinhados
no poleiro.

Ao vê-los de debaixo ou no telejornal
parece que a democracia funciona
ninguém voa sem que todos o façam
nenhum chilreia ou perde o pio sem olhar para o lado

entretanto

vendo melhor

todos se mexem muito e batem as pressurosas asas
mas ninguém faz nada
nem larga o poleiro.

Até que os tiros de caçadores furtivos
ao longe os assustam
e a passarada debanda
dá dois ou três voos largos sobre o poder
e súbito regressa ao lugar.

A harmonia temporariamente perdida
refaz-se
a liberdade dos que ficam
é a fome que aumenta
e a inepta revolta do sonho
que nunca chega ao fim.
