at first with this train from Wernigerode to Schierke (687m) ... and than hiking to the Brocken* 1.141m ufff :-)))

Schierke-Bahnhof 687m

Der Bahnhof wurde am 20. Juni 1898 eröffnet und ist seitdem ständig als Bahnhof in Nutzung. Mit der Fertigstellung der Strecke zum Brocken am 4. Oktober 1898 verkehrten hier die vorwiegend touristisch genutzten Züge zum höchsten Berg Norddeutschlands. Da im Winter der Bahnhof Brocken aufgrund der Schneemassen nicht bedient wurde, endeten die Züge vom 16. Oktober bis zum 29. April immer in Schierke. Erst nach den Deutschen Wintersportmeisterschaften im Frühjahr 1950 wurde der Brocken auch im Winter angefahren.

Stimmt, ich auch! Das war damals noch Kohlen Rauch... zumindest in der Tschechoslovakei... Und ausserdem sah ich gern die Drähte durch das Fenster die sich auf und ab bewegten... Das Geräusch, den Rythmus, der Räder hast Du gut aufgenommen
