Nunataq or Sérac

Nunataq (nunataaq) is a rock completely surrounded by ice, a mountain ridge or hill that protrudes above the surface of an ice sheet or mountain glacier. Nunataks are typical of the peripheral regions of Greenland and Antarctica, but can also be found in alpine-type glacial regions. Here, rather, not a nunataq, but an old weathered sérac with a huge stone on top.
Sérac is a type of glacial formation in the form of ice pillars. Séracs are formed during the movement and weathering of the glacier due to uneven melting and the formation of gullies and cracks. Depending on weather conditions and altitude, the sérac can exist for several seasons or collapse soon after formation.
