Space for a new entrance of Hanover Fair

This tower was built in 1958. That was the time when Germany was divided into East and West.
Leipzig was for centuries the most important German trade fair location. This location in a communist country was not acceptable for the West German economy. Thus, the policy at that time built with sound public finances this contemporary house for exhibitions. About maybe 20 years of succsessful use follows, the small exhibition rooms, stairs, e.g., were timely. As time went by more unexceptional flatter halls not only at Hanover Fair were built. I have known this building as an exhibition space for lamp manufacturers. What is to do with so much exhibition space: thus, even with such a great show like CeBIT, the halls not sold out .. Since the economy crysis in 2008 , the management could not Generate profits. So have politicians pumped EUR 250 million in this sick System.
For Expo 2000, the Dutch artist Lilly van der Stokker covered the now missing facade with a large area painture with blue and pink ornaments. Apparently, located inside the building done less and less.
