John F. Kennedy Hell Bank Note

John F. Kennedy Hell Bank Note
As Wikipedia explains, "Hell money is a form of joss paper printed to resemble legal tender bank notes. This faux money has been in use since at least the late 19th century and possibly much earlier....The notes are not an officially recognized currency or legal tender since their sole intended purpose is to be offered as burnt-offerings to the deceased as often practiced by the Chinese and several East Asian cultures."

is it a real hell note? i don't thin i've ever seen one that featured a foreigner - but then i don't usually look very close at them here.

Since hell notes like this are essentially religious goods used in rituals, I debated whether to post these images at all. Hopefully no one will find them offensive.

As far as I know, this is real hell money. Wikipedia says that some of these notes depict "famous people who are deceased, such as U.S. President John F. Kennedy, Albert Einstein, and Marilyn Monroe." I've never seen ones with Einstein or Monroe, however.

i doubt anyone would be offended. at least not from my experience of what goes on at a lot of temples that would burn such notes here. i'll have to take a closer look the next time i pass one of the vendors selling these sort of things and see if the hell notes here have pictures of people on them. i could see the possibility of notes of these people existing when they died since the were so internationally well known - maybe people would use them to mourn them.
