Studied St St Petersburg Conservatory with Natayla Iretskaya and in Milan with Vittorio Vanza.Debut at Mariinsky as Gilda in “Rigoletto” by Verdi in 1907.Made regular guest appearances at the Mariinsky until 1917. At Theatre du Chatelet Paris in the Russian opera season of 1909 debuting as Marfa in “The Tsars Bride” by Rimsky-Korsakov , this led to an engagement with the Opera Comique for 3 seasons. She then was engaged by the Chicago opera and also sang at Boston , New York Metropolitan and in 1911 went to London Covent Garden.She toured widely as well as many important Russian opera housed she sang at Odessa,Baku, La Scala Milan and Montreal.After the war she continued in opera as well as concert and recital.Her final performance was in the role of Viokletta in “la Traviatta” by Verdi at Odessa in 1941.She taught singing in Paris and Beirut.Her roles included Lucia “Lucia De Lammermoor” Donizetti,Thais “Thais” Massenet,Lakme ‘Lakme” Delibes,Elvira ‘I Puritani” by Bellini and Amina “La Sonnumbula” Bellini.

He took his first singing lessons at the Conservatoire in Kharkov with P. Tikhonov and then at the St. Petersburg conservatoire (1898-1900) with S.Gabel for singing, with O. Palechek for the opera class During 1900/1903 he sang at the Opera in Kharkov .Debut as the Demon in Rubinstein's opera. There he sang the main baritone's roles. From 1902, Bonachich sang as a tenor. He toured from 1900 singing in Kiev, Saratov , Yekaterinoslav, Tbilisi (, Nizhniy Novgorod, Baku and in Petersburg ia). Between 1905 and 1921, he was a soloist at the Bolshoi. 1921-1922, he was a soloist at the Omsk Opera and was also a producer and its director. He sang successfuly in Berlin , Italy, France, possibly in Monte-Carlo, and in the USA (1909-1912). From 1923, Bonachich dedicated himself to teach singing:

Rachmaninoff taught him much about musicianship, including how to analyze a music score, and insisted that Chaliapin learn not only his own roles but also all the other roles in the operas in which he was slated to appear. With Rachmaninoff he learned the title role of Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov, which became his signature character , On the strength of his Mamontov appearances, the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow engaged Chaliapin, where he appeared regularly from 1899 until 1914. During the First World War, Chaliapin also appeared regularly at the Zimin Private Opera in Moscow. In addition, from 1901, Chaliapin began touring in the West, making a sensational debut at La Scala that year as the devil in a production of Boito's Mefistofele, under the baton of one of the 20th century's most dynamic opera conductors, Arturo Toscanini
Chaliapin's last stage performance took place at the Monte Carlo Opera in 1937, as Boris. He died the following year of leukemia, aged 65, in Paris, where he was interred
