Russian Soprano
Studied St St Petersburg Conservatory with Natayla Iretskaya and in Milan with Vittorio Vanza.Debut at Mariinsky as Gilda in “Rigoletto” by Verdi in 1907.Made regular guest appearances at the Mariinsky until 1917. At Theatre du Chatelet Paris in the Russian opera season of 1909 debuting as Marfa in “The Tsars Bride” by Rimsky-Korsakov , this led to an engagement with the Opera Comique for 3 seasons. She then was engaged by the Chicago opera and also sang at Boston , New York Metropolitan and in 1911 went to London Covent Garden.She toured widely as well as many important Russian opera housed she sang at Odessa,Baku, La Scala Milan and Montreal.After the war she continued in opera as well as concert and recital.Her final performance was in the role of Viokletta in “la Traviatta” by Verdi at Odessa in 1941.She taught singing in Paris and Beirut.Her roles included Lucia “Lucia De Lammermoor” Donizetti,Thais “Thais” Massenet,Lakme ‘Lakme” Delibes,Elvira ‘I Puritani” by Bellini and Amina “La Sonnumbula” Bellini.
