Vienna Volksoper and later he became member of the Imperial Vienna Opera where he remained 1915 Left Vienna Opera and moved to Berlin In 1921Toured the United States, and was associated with the Civic Opera Company in Chicago and also i engaged at the Met. His repertory included roles such as Amfortas, Wanderer, Wolfram, Scarpia, Germont-père, Escamillo, Renato and Valentin.

There he made his debut in 1882 as Rigoletto in "Rigoletto" by Verdi’s. Then from 1882 he sang in provincial opera houses. and travelled to Italy for 2 seasons.Upon his return he was engaged at the Marinsky Theatreas principal baritone .He also sang in Berlin, Copenhagen, and other European cities. He performed Tchaikovsky’s art songs in concert. .From 1900 he was the Director of the Marinsky and 1920 to 1923 he was a professor at the Petrograd Conservatory. His roles included Rigoletto in "Rigoletto" by Verdi , Tonio in "I Pagliacci" by Leoncavallo ,Germont in "La Traviatta" by Verdi , Onegin in "Eugene Onegin" by Tchaikovsky , Demon in "Demon" by Rubinstein and many others

In 1905 she was admitted to a private music school in Vienna operated by Countess Pizzamano. From 1907 to 1909 she studied in Milan with Antonio Rupnick.opera debut in 1909 as Marguerite in Charles Gounod's Faust at the Teatro Nazionale in Rome. She spent the next three years appearing at major opera houses in Italy like La Scala, the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, La Fenice and the Teatro della Pergola. Between 1912 and 1914 she had major successes at the Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi, the Teatro Donizetti di Bergamo, the Teatro Dal Verme, the Teatro Regio di Parma, the Teatro del Giglio, the opera house in Brescia and the Teatro di San Carlo. At the later house she was a much admired Berthe in Giacomo Meyerbeer's Le prophète and Arsena in The Gypsy Baron. She also sang Santuzza in Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana and Nedda in Leoncavallo's Pagliacci under the batons of their respective composers in Alexandria.

From 1898-1901 she worked at the Stadttheater of Magdeburg and worked in the years 1901-12 at the Stadttheater (Opera House) of Hamburg. In the years 1899 to 1912 she performed regularly at the Berlin Court Opera, 1900 at the Court Opera of Dresden, 1904 at the Court Theater Schwerin and 1900 at the Opera House in Leipzig. In Amsterdam, she appeared in a guest performance as Konstanze in the 'Abduction from the Seraglio'. Her repertoire included mostly coloratura parts such as the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, Rosina in the Barber of Seville, Marie in Donizrtti's Regimental Daughter, Gilda in Rigoletto, Traviata , the page Oscar in Verdi's' Masked Ball ', the Queen Marguerite as the page Urbain in Meyerbeer's' Huguenots', the Philine in' Mignon 'by A.Thomas, the Rose Friquet in the' bell of the hermit 'of Maillart, the Elvira in' La Muette de Portici 'by Auber and the wife Fluth in the' Merry Wives of Windsor 'by Nicolai; However, she also took on heavier games such as the Chrysothemis in 'Elektra' by Richard Strauss. In 1907 she sang in Hamburg in the world premiere of the opera 'Tragaldabas' by Eugen d'Albert
