THEODOR FORMES
(June 29 1826 - 15 October 1874 )
German Tenor
Received his training in Vienna , made his debut in 1846 as Edgardo in " Lucia di Lammermoor " .In 1848 he was in Mannheim and worked from 1851 as their first heroic tenor . 15 years at the Berlin opera house. Originally a bass , his voice changed to tenor.Later he went with his brother to America, where he had, however, no luck. After his return, he lost his voice almost completely. Although he came back temporarily after a sensational guest performance at the Kroll Opera House in Berlin he was hired again as first tenor at the Opera House; even during his first year he had symptoms of mental disorder, unfortuantley he finally had to placed into the insane asylum at Endenich near Bonn, where he died on 3 October 15, 1874.
