It has the titles of Ancient City, Noble and Loyal.
During the 15th and 16th centuries, the city experienced a boom period, being the residence of the nobility. At that time most of the monuments, palaces, temples and manor houses that are preserved today were built.
In 1944 it was declared a Historic-Artistic Site, thanks to its wall, cathedral, palaces and churches.

THE BORDERS BETWEEN PORTUGAL AND SPAIN REOPENED IN THE PAST 1 MAY
es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catedral_de_Ciudad_Rodrigo
Its construction took place between the 12th and 14th centuries. It belongs to the so-called "Salamanca group", together with the Old Cathedral of Salamanca, the Cathedral of Zamora and the Collegiate Church of Toro (Zamora) for its style.
This door consists of a beautiful Gothic frieze with twelve figures from the Old Testament ( The central figure is Moses with the Tablets of the Law and the only female statue will be Judith) and a tympanum in which four Romanesque figures were placed in the Modern Age: from left to right Saint John, Saint Peter, Christ Pantocrator, Saint Paul and Saint James with the attributes of a pilgrim
