Viewed from the road viaduct. Since this region joined christianity in the 4th century, churches and monasteries were built with surrounding protection of walls. Caucasus was always the stage of conflicts between peoples of different cultures and idioms. In this region, the Army of the Roman Empire needed no less than 70 translators to communicate with local populations, after successive translations.
