Nightwish ist eine finnische Symphonic-Metal-Band aus Kitee. Die Band um den Keyboarder Tuomas Holopainen ist eine der erfolgreichsten Metalbands Finnlands und galt mit der ausgebildeten Opernsängerin Tarja Turunen als stilprägend für ihr Genre. Die Musik von Nightwish ist stark von Filmmusik inspiriert.
Im Jahr 2005 trennte sich die Band von Turunen und stellte im Mai 2007 Anette Olzon als neue Sängerin vor.
