Sam Cooke war ein US-amerikanischer Sänger, geb. 22.1.1931, verst. 11.12.1964)
Nicht nur, dass es sehr selten war, dass ein R&B–Sänger seine eigenen Songs schrieb und damit Erfolg hatte, Cooke verblüffte das Musik–Business auch, indem er in den 1960ern sein eigenes Label, SAR Records, gründete.
Cooke wurde 1986 in die Rock and Roll Hall of Fame aufgenommen.
