PMB070 WINNIPEG - (WOOLWORTH - FASHIONCRAFT FIRE)

PHOTOGRAPH
13 X 8 cm
Date: The fire took place on January 24, 1922.
Publisher / Photographer: Unidentified
Notation: This is not a postcard. The buildings involved were 258-262 Portage Avenue. This is a more panoramic image of the fire than most postcard images show. I particularly like that it includes the Bank of Nova Scotia (on the far left, at the intersection of Portage & Garry) as it was initially constructed. In this form, the bank opened for business in 1910, but around 1930, it added another section to the right/west of what is seen in this image.
