WP1798 WPG - GREEK CHURCH

WP1798 WPG - GREEK CHURCH
POSTCARD

Date: Posted January 30, 1906 from the Louise Bridge postal station to Folkstone, England.

Publisher / Photographer: Unidentified

Notation: The message on the reverse reads "Winnipeg's most curious church. I don't think pew rent is very high." Widely-known as the "Tin Can Cathedral", the church was constructed at the corner of King Street and Stella Avenue by the colourful and self-styled Bishop Seraphim.

The small shack to the left of the church appears to follow the same architectural style. With a stove pipe rising through the roof... I'm wondering if that, perhaps, was the Bishop's manse?
