WP1798 WPG - GREEK CHURCH
POSTCARD
Date: Posted January 30, 1906 from the Louise Bridge postal station to Folkstone, England.
Publisher / Photographer: Unidentified
Notation: The message on the reverse reads "Winnipeg's most curious church. I don't think pew rent is very high." Widely-known as the "Tin Can Cathedral", the church was constructed at the corner of King Street and Stella Avenue by the colourful and self-styled Bishop Seraphim.
The small shack to the left of the church appears to follow the same architectural style. With a stove pipe rising through the roof... I'm wondering if that, perhaps, was the Bishop's manse?

WP1900 WPG - CATHEDRALE ST-BONIFACE
Posted August 3, 1909
Publisher: M Keroack, Fancy Goods, Church and School Supplies
Message, in French, to Mrs. R. Driscoll in New York, from Yvonne. What was of interest to me was the Publisher of this card. The address given is "Cor Main Water Sts Winnipeg & St Boniface". I haven't seen other cards from this publisher & have to wonder if they produced postcards of other churches, schools.

WP1912 WPG - DECORATION DAY PARADE WINNIPEG MAY 11, 1913
Posted: May 17, 1913 from Winnipeg to Elizabethtown, PA
Publisher / Photographer: Unidentified
It is too bad that this image has postal inking on it. It is the only postcard image I have seen of the original (seemingly-wooden) All Saints Church at the intersection of Broadway & Osborne. At this time, Osborne Street ended at Broadway and this church stood at the north side of the intersection. In the early 20's the City decided to extend Osborne through to Portage Avenue - which precipitated the demolition of this church and the construction of the new (current) stone one somewhat to the west of the original site.
I assume that the large building in the back left is likely the McDonagh and Shea Brewery on Colony Street.
