Mariahilf church

Immigrants from several counties - mostly catholic - began settling in what became known as the Mariaihilf district in the 1890s. The first church, school and teacherage burned down. A second church was also destroyed by fire. Undaunted, this chapel was built in the 1920s and has endured. The building and the adjacent cemetery are well maintained.
