Fresh fish

Cod and haddock being landed at Þórshöfn harbour. Þórshöfn is an important fishing port in the NE of Iceland. It has 380 inhabitants, an airport and is a service centre for the surrounding area.

Herzlichen Dank, Udo! Die waren gerade erst vom Fischen reingekommen:-) Die helleren mit den goldenen Flecken sind Kabeljau, die etwas dunkleren Schellfisch.

Dank dir, Volker! Dort oben hoch im Norden geht es noch, Island hat ja nach den Kabeljaukriegen mit England eine 200-Mailen-Schutzzone rund um die Insel durchgesetzt, wo die anderen nicht reindürfen!

Thanks very much Amelia! We did have sea trout that day and it was defiinitely fresh, no fake eyes needed;-) In Iceland you usually have either fish or lamb for dinner, both very good.

Wir sind früher im Urlaub in der Bretagne immer gegen 16 Uhr in den Hafen gegangen, um die Ankunft der Fischer zu beobachten und anschließend frischen Fisch zum Abendessen zu kaufen.

Schönen Dank, Reinhard! Da sind die in der Bretagne aber spät zum Fischen rausgefahren! Auf den Kanalinseln hatte der Fischhändler am Hafen gegen 10/11 Uhr vormittags den Fisch schon verkauft, die Boote kamen alle frühmorgens rein.
