Der frühgotische Chor der Kathedrale von Canterbury liegt eine Treppenflucht höher als das Langhaus. Links am Durchgang zum nordöstlichen Querschiff befindet sich das Grabmal (1426) des Erzbischofs Henry Chichele, Gründer von All Souls College in Oxford.
Nochmals einige Treppenstufen höher liegt die Trinitätskapelle (1184 fertiggestellt), die den Schrein des heiligen Thomas Becket barg, der 1170 im nordwestlichen Querhaus der Kathedrale ermordet wurde. Heinrich VIII ließ den Schrein zerstören und konfiszierte das Gold und die Edelsteine, an der Stelle des Schreins steht heute eine einzelne Kerze.
Zu beiden Seiten des Schreins befinden sich die Grabmäler von König Heinrich IV (1366-1430) und des Schwarzen Prinzen (1330-1376).
