Kap Arkona

Kap Arkona
Kap Arkona is a 45m high cape in the NW of Rügen island. The cape boasts of two lighthouses, a navigation tower (see inset photo), several WWII bunkers and a 9th century Slavic fortification (Jaromarsburg).
The chalk cliffs are unstable, on boxing day 2011 a girl was killed by a rockfall.

Thank you, Jaap! It's worth visiting! I haven't managed to see Jasmund National Park (except from the sea), one week just isn't enough for Rügen...

Urlaub auf Rügen hat schon was, wobe iich mehr die Ecke Prora/Mukran und Binz kenne durch den Wehrdienst.
Der Kreidefelsen in so einem Licht ist schon was feines, da leuchtet er und lacht mit der Sonne um die Wette.

Großen Dank, Uwe! Wir waren auch nur zu einem Tagesausflug in dieser Ecke und ich kann sowieso nicht sagen, dass ich Rügen kenne, dazu muss ich noch öfter hin;-) Ich war nicht mal im Jasmund Nationalpark..
