Cambridge - 5 Market Hill 2013-06-05
The shell-hood over the first-floor French doors is dated 1688, although this marks a re-modelling, rather than the date of the original structure, according to the Buildings of England, which also says that the shell-hood was moved up from the ground floor when the house was converted to a shop. However, the RCHM (www.british-history.ac.uk/rchme/cambs/pp319-358, item 150) suggests that the ironwork of the balcony is contemporary with the shell-hood, so it may always have been at first-floor level.
