Crocuses in August....really??

Crocuses in August....really??
I was startled to see these crocuses in full bloom today, at first I thought they were artificial (not) then blamed global warming, now I'm thinking they may be an experiment as they were growing opposite the Manchester institute of biotechnology.....confused.com!!

, Malik Raoulda, Amelia have particularly liked this photo

Wow Jaap - mystery solved I think, didn't notice that the leaves hadn't appeared either - many thanks, that has blown my conspiracy theory out of the water!

Jaap is right. Autumn crocus always appear unexpectedly. The leaves are not like spring crocus, being much larger and wider and appear throughput the summer and disappear just before the crocus bloom..
