kaffeslottet

This impressive building in Gudhjem, Bornholm, bears the name "Coffee Castle", because it belonged to a rich coffee merchant, who bought bits and pieces of the old central station of Copenhagen and asked his architect to integrate them into his retirement home. Hence the cupola, for example. Until a few years ago Kaffeslottet housed a fine, little art gallery, but on my last visit to Bornholm in October 2012, I found it closed for good. Pity that.
Latest information, added Oct 13, 2013: Found the house advertised in a real estate magazine, it's on the market for 2.5 million Danish kroner. Interested? It's a bargain!!! :-))
