ich würde eher auf weichem Untergrund laufen, auch wegen der Verkehrssituation

Yes, it is much better to ride a horse on soft ground, if you own, or have access to, suitable turf. And, as you observe, safer too. I wish the horse-riding community would understand that fact.

It’s remarkable to see horse and rider not swaddled in hi-vis yellow vest.

Her objection to a hi-vis yellow vest might be that it would hinder the public from reading her life story printed on her singlet, which begins, 'My dalmation and I talk shit about you'. I have an uneasy relationship with people on horseback. I have known them to shout 'Out of the way' at me, and more recently to address me as 'You people', before adding their opinion of where they perceived me to be on the social ladder. Also, people on horseback at racing courses have often let me down financially, although to their credit they have not shouted any rude remarks in my direction. I must make it clear that I have no reservations concerning horses unencumbered by toffs, would-be toffs, and folk employed by toffs.
