The saturated colours add a good air of hyper-reality to this. That and the composition make for a striking photo.

Thank you, John. I may be influenced by the super-saturation of holiday postcards of British coastal resorts in days gone by. The holidays themselves were often damp and grey. It seemed a better idea to stay at home and hope for bright and jolly postcards from other people who were enduring their annual break.
