The Express Train


Have you noticed how frequently in period drama the protagonists board an express for London? There is much steam and whistle sounds; the actors sway slightly as the train gathers speed; broadsheet newspapers are opened and tobacco is enjoyed. Then there is an overhead shot as the express travels under a bridge. And you see a single track. The London express trains are operating on a single track. Doh!
