Spring Bank Holiday

I always enjoy visiting the East Somerset railway, but I made a bit of a mistake taking two members of my family there for an outing on Spring Bank Holiday. Not because the place was busy, but because the fare I normally pay was increased by 66% (£15 as opposed to £9) and I had to buy three tickets at the inflated price. This is not very appealing if you don't much like face painting, tractor rides and looking at farm animals in pens et cetera. Admittedly, there were more locomotives in steam, and six trips available up the line instead of four on a normal day when the railway is in steam, but I won't be caught out like that again. Still, the place was thronged and the young families seemed mostly to be having a good time, and so my grumble might not be justified by today's standards for entertainment costs.
