Imagine the years of therapy you'd need after being served this slop at an impressionable age.
Ma, it won't stop staring at meeee!!!!
Published in the March issue of Western Family magazine.

Front and back covers for a promotional published by Franz Bakery, Portland, Oregon. Sadly, they didn't have the giant revolving bread loaf on the factory roof yet. Now you have no choice but to come over and see it for yourself.

Kids, I'm sorry we're so poorly drawn, but my nephew just graduated from art school and he really needed the gig.

"I've never sat on a loaf of bread before! It feels great!"

So apparently even then, the entire operation was run by about six people, not counting the cartoon tour guide.

Plus, all the non-cartoon people look so gloomy. Well, except for the bread truck dude. Maybe he was the only one whose photo got snapped on a Friday instead of a Monday.

And thus ends our saga. Such local landmarks as the 24-hr Church Of Elvis, the Metro on Broadway, and The Pagoda are long gone, but Franz -- in its fragrant, white glory-- marches on!

I love the aquatic-hued table cloth. It goes so well with the sea-monster entree', doesn't it? Excerpts from a 24-pager published by the Kretschmer Corporation of Carrollton, Michigan.

The neo-Cubist fish is adorable. Plus, it's nice to see the dog lined up next to the kids, since you know they're going to be passing him any number of these "goodies" the second Mom's back is turned.
But I couldn't find a recipe to match the freaky ring-mold thing at the right of the full-color photograph. I feel lucky.

In the same envelope as the booklet, just in case you didn't get the message before. I think that's Tip O'Neill's head on the right.

Front and back cover, plus several pages from a promotional published by the Kellogg's Corporation, Battle Creek, Michigan.
"To Keep Happy, Keep Well.
It is much easier to keep well than it is to get well. The way is clear if you will follow Nature's laws..."

To be pulled in by that awesome cover design, only to get a barrage of motivational mumbo-jumbo and pile after pile of drab brown food and bleak decor... Kellogg's, why do you break my heart like this?!

So is this the "feminine" version of wearing a lampshade on your head at cocktail parties?

One side of a die-cut fold-out published by the National Biscuit Company ("Bakers of RITZ, UNEEDA BISCUIT, and other famous varieties").
Actually, the section furthest right is what the ad looks like when it's all closed up. The piece folds and unfolds accordion-style. A nice design, despite the weird bodiless heads involved.

Peer pressure! Peer pressure! Buy it now and eat it every day or we'll all think you're weird!

I have no idea what that thing in the middle is supposed to be. Mrs. Crisp, help me!

One side of an advertising fold-out published by the Fant Milling Company of Sherman, Texas. The cartoons may be by an artist named Chas Cartwright, who drew newspaper ads for the company in the 1940s (Thanks to notyourmind at YouTube).
