Egret sitting on a fence

White egret at rest standing on a fence at Milton Harbor, Blind Brook in Rye, New York. The egret's white form stands out beautifully against the lush green foliage, blue sky and weathered brown fence. This photograph was taken from the deck of my rowboat in summer. The creatures in this area became adjusted to my presence because they knew I meant them no harm.
