Topolia

The olive is one of the oldest fruit trees to be domesticated by humans. Archaeological finds indicate that this happened in Crete around 4000. On Cretan tablets and later on Mycenaean Linear B archival tablets, olives, and especially olive oil, are an important commodity.
The name "Topolia" means indeed "place of olives," and at the end of the small village stands this ancient olive grove. However, it is by no means the oldest on the island.
