Jazz à Vienne - Mavis Staples

"Jazz à Vienne" offers 250 concerts per year, 1,000 artists and 200,000 festival visitors.
The 42nd edition took place from 28 June to 13 July 2023.
The charismatic blues and soul singer Mavis Staples can look back on a music career spanning over 70 years. As early as 1952, she was a member of the Staple Singers around her father, the gospel singer Pops Staples. Thanks to his friendship with Martin Luther King Jr., the Staples Singers became the musical mouthpiece of the civil rights movement.
Mavis Staples has worked with artists such as Aretha Franklin, Prince and Ry Cooder and has been honoured with three Grammys.
