Halsham - All Saints

Halsham - All Saints
Like Hedon the village of Halsham is located in the area known as Holderness. Halsham was part of an estate which had been granted by King Cnut to the Archbishop in 1033. The Constable family (founder, Ulbert, the constable under William le Gros (+ 1179)), had an estate here by the late 12th century. Some land was given to Thornton Abbey by Robert Constable by 1190.

There is no mention of the church until 1207, when there was a dispute between Robert Constable and St John’s college, Beverley.

Alexander Prolygin, Nicole Merdrignac, Fred Fouarge have particularly liked this photo
