Le Mas - Notre-Dame du Mas

Le Mas is first mentioned in papers of the Abbey of Lérins. Monks from there have probably erected this single-nave church in the 11th/12th century. The church, surrounded by a cemetery, is located on a hill that dominates the village. This is curious, as so the church is located opposite the location of the feudal castle. Legend has it that there would be a tunnel connecting the church and the castle.
The church was a place of pilgrimage in the Middle Ages to venerate the relics of Saint Arnoux.
