Berndorf - Wilke

When I passed through Berndorf, I stopped to take the (left) photo of the vending machine. The same day "Wilke" was in the news. After three deaths connected to Listeria-laden pizza salami and boiled sausage produced by Wilke, the production was stopped. The goods have been recalled worldwide. There had been significant hygiene deficiencies in production. Among other things, rotten meat had been mixed with fresh and gone under new packaging in the sale. The company filed for bankruptcy. The remaining stocks of existing food were destroyed.

So when I passed through again about a week later the vending machine was empty (right photo), only some soft drink bottles were still in.
