Nickenich - St. Arnulf

Celts have lived here an early times, the Romans left a tumulus. In 1069 Pope Alexander II confirmed an endowment of 100 hectares land in "Nethenis" to an abbey in Toul.
A parish church was built ~ 1200 on the ruins of a Roman villa. This church got demolished in 1842. Only the the Romanesque tower still exists. Today's parish church was completed in 1848. It was built in an early Neo-Romanesque style.
